Accornero is the Architect of The Shopper Schism and the first researcher to define agentic commerce as a formal academic discipline: the study of what happens when autonomous AI agents replace humans as purchasing decision‑makers. He named The Shopper Schism: the permanent separation between the consumer who experiences value and the shopper who executes the purchase, now that AI agents increasingly do the buying on a human's behalf.

In 2024, I established The AI Praxis, a research practice studying agentic commerce and its implications for retailers, brand owners, policy makers, and the economics of commerce. The practice exists to move the field from observation to verifiable, data‑driven fact: the physics of agentic commerce, and the instruments that measure it.
I am the Architect of The Shopper Schism, the structural separation of the consumer, who experiences value, from the shopper, who executes the purchase, once an AI agent does the buying.
